Part 4

Travel, especially over long distances, was a slow and tedious affair because it was on camel back. It took seven days to travel between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, a distance of 160 kilometres, and five days to the Liwa. When travelling to the Liwa, some people went part way by boat before going overland from the sea shore (usually from a point somewhere near Ruwais) but it still took a full five days to reach their destination.
